Résumé
A novel approach for hardware/software cosimulation is introduced. This approach uses a PC based platform to simulate software components, a programmable hardware platform to simulate hardware components, and a general-purpose interface board to link the simulation platforms. The focus of the thesis is on the development of a general-purpose cosimulation interface using reconfigurable logic devices. This interface is responsible for communicating signals between the hardware and software simulation entities while also assisting with the task of simulation control. A simple ATM switch application is developed using this hardware/software cosimulation approach to demonstrate some of the strengths and weaknesses of the interface.
